Danelectro DC-3 Silver Sparkle 1998-00
Danelectro DC-3, silver sparkle, made in Korea 1998-00. This is such a cool guitar. The DC-3 is a twist on the iconic '59 model, but with a double cutaway body, three lipstick pickups and some nice electronics. The rotary switch offers six positions: the standard five you get on any Strat, plus a handy neck+bridge combo on position one. There's a master stacked volume/tone knob plus a toggle switch that engages all three pickups in series, offering a boosted output and a thick, tasty tone. As Dano-fans know, these Korean reissues are brilliant sounding guitars. All of the switch positions sound great in their own right. The clean tones are a nice mix of jangle and definition, and with some crunch added, this has a brilliant creamy chime that's very satisfying indeed. It's very easy to play; the lightweight body and moderate round neck are intuitive and friendly in the hands. The real trump card here is the immaculate styling: this really does look exceptionally awesome, especially in the flesh. It's made for the stage, just like you, right?
