Edwards E-KA-90 Kazuma model, trans blonde, made in Japan around 2000. Kazuma is the guitar player for Siam Shade, who rose to fame in the early 90s as part of Japan's Visual Kei movement. Visual Kei was influenced by western glam rock, but included a much broader spectrum of music and had an aesthetic that could only have come from Japan. This absolutely has a glam aesthetic: the seven-ply binding, cream burst over the outrageous flame maple top, pearl guard, matching headstock... it's a lot to take in. It looks awesome though, kinda like a Les Paul dressed in drag, singing cabaret at the country club for a bunch of gang members; that's the vibe. Edwards is the vintage style division of ESP Guitars, so this is made to an exceptional standard in Tokyo, just like the exceptional high-end ESP branded stuff. The neck is a handy slim 60s style shape that feels awesome, and in a fun twist, it's attached via an easy-access bolt-on joint. That, combined with the heavily contoured body, makes for a super comfy, lightweight LP without the fragility inherent to the standard design. The Duncan pickups are of great quality and serve out a healthy dose of enthusiastic crunch when sent to a dirty amp, but this also cleans up nicely and offers a defined, crisp voice not far from a Tele, especially with the coil-split switch engaged. It'll take a cool character to claim this one, but I'm really looking forward to finding it an appreciative home, as it's an absolute ripper of a guitar.
