Epiphone LP Custom, alpine white, made in Korea 1993. What's better than a white Custom with gold hardware? A creamy aged buttercream Custom with faded gold hardware of course. This looks superb in the flesh: you can't fake three decades of play and fading, it has a certain depth and magic to it and radiates street-smart class. These 90s era Korean-made Epiphones are increasingly sought after, as the woodwork and finish on them is generally beautifully executed. It feels great in the hands: the neck is slim and stable, the fretwork is great, it has a certain natural resonance... there's a certain integrity to it. Plugged in, you get plenty of clarity and brightness, which is always a good sign in an LP. There's still plenty of warmth and midrange kick on offer, but it's nicely counterbalanced with a sweetness in the top end and a throaty depth in the lows. I'd be surprised if this lasts long.
