(SOLD) Epiphone Les Paul Custom Ebony 2006
Epiphone LP Custom, made in China 2006, black. The 'black beauty' will always look the part: the seven ply binding, split diamond headstock, block inlays and gold hardware all light up the curves of the LP body beautifully. This example has plenty of natural play wear on the clock, so there's plenty of minor scuffs around the body and a certain openness in feel and sound to show for all the songs it has sung so far. The neck is moderately chunky, but not a baseball bat, and with the tidy fretwork and a streaky rosewood board, it feels and looks good. The tone on deck is fat, round and warm, with plenty of midrange kick on the bridge pickup and a gooey, weighty low end on the neck pickup. A brand new Epi LPC will set you back tonnes these days, so this is a smart little buy... plus, it sounds better I reckon.
