Epiphone LP Custom Pro, wine red, made in China 2016. Our mate Uncle Les was born in 1915, so the enterprising folks at Epiphone dreamed up this swish creature for release in 2015 to commemorate the occasion. It takes the classic Les Paul Custom shape, with it's classy curves, block inlays, seven ply binding and mahogany carved top, and adds 24-carat gold plated hardware, the fancy floral inlay from the Sheraton on the headstock and some art-deco style Grover tuners to take things in a real Cadillac-esque direction. The classic LPC tone is on offer: thick and growly, warm through the mids with plenty of sustain and grit. The neck is a comfy slim round shape and has a nice little portrait of Our Les on the back. The wine red looks great too, it's probably my favourite out of the usual suspects on a Custom. Fun little known fact: Les is actually short for Lesinator II; Judgement Day.
