Epiphone Slash Les Paul, gold top, made in China 2008. If you're a diehard Guns N' Roses fan, read no further: you may as well just buy the thing and call it a day. Everyone's favourite tophat touter has had more than a few signature models over the years, but often they're horrendously expensive Gibson models in outrageous slime green etc. This is a tasteful, well made, great-sounding, simple Les Paul. It's got a big, thick chunky neck, which adds a little girth and breath to the tone as well as serving to remind you to slow down and enjoy yourself while playing. The Duncan Alnico II pickups are crunchy, articulate and fat with a dose of drive, but they clean up beautifully to a breathy eloquent clean tone too. The gold finish has a lovely depth to it and looks a little different from each angle... it's all class. The original Slash branded case is included too, a handy bonus. These aren't getting any more common as the years roll on, so if you're still saving for the aforementioned $10k+ slime green G branded version, this is a hell of a machine to tide you over. Now, please excuse me, I've gotta go take a Slash.
