Fender Japan '52 Telecaster, crafted in Japan 1999-02, relic vintage natural finish. The fret board on this has had most of the lacquer sanded off, which lends it a sweet lively feel and a roadworn look; it works nicely with the yellowed VNT finish. This is a high-end CIJ Tele, so you get the good stuff: two piece light ash body, brass saddles bridge, Fender USA Texas Special pickups made in the Custom Shop, one piece maple neck and board... it's a classy guy. The tone is immaculate: classic Tele twang, with the rounded warmth of a proper high-grade body and the added sizzle and bass of the Texas Specials. It's very satisfying for big, open chords and soulful, expressive lead lines. This is highly effective and drips with classic style; can't go wrong here!
Model: Fender Telecaster '52 Reissue (TL52-80TX)
Made: Japan, 1999-2002 (CIJ, serial P026060)
Finish: vintage natural (VNT), single ply black guard
Body: light weight ash
Neck: maple, maple board, very mild V-profile
Mods: relic applied to fretboard
Weight: 3.6kg
Pickups: Fender USA Texas Special single coils
Case: none
Cosmetic condition notes: minor finish wear, plus relic treatment. The fretboard has been treated to give it a worn look, so much of the original gloss lacquer has been sanded off. There's a couple of extremely minor dimples on the body and some play-wear on the guard and some minor pitting on the chrome; aside from that, barely a nudge. There's a couple of extra holes from previous strap pins on the rear. Overall: excellent condition, noting the relic-wear (8.5/10)
Playing condition notes: Action is low, neck is straight, intonation is good, truss rod works. All electronics tested and working properly. The frets are in good shape with minor wear only, around 8.5/10 for life left. T-goodness!
