Fender '70 Reissue Precision Bass Capri Orange 1997-00
Fender P, '70 Reissue, capri orange, crafted in Japan 1997-2000. This is very, very orange! This finish is non-catalog, so it's either a special order or limited edition model; this model is only usually available in white. The finish is amazing, it's got a real muscle-car-esque braggadocious swaggerl; it totally stands out from the crowd. This model is a cut above the standard Japan P, so you get a Fender USA pickup and a sweet alder body under the hood. The tone is pure-P: thick, punchy mids with a stack of attack and roundness. The '70 models have a slightly slimmer neck than the more common '62 models, so it's a breeze to play and really comes to life with some aggressive attack. This one suffered a blow in transit, so we sent it to our master luthier Jon Parsons for a pro-repair; you can see the scar just next to the input jack. It's a great repair and there's no danger of a relapse in the affected area, and we've factored that into the price. Grab yourself an outrageously excellent P and play the rudest, loudest riffs you can!
Model: Fender Precision Bass '70 Reissue, PB70-70US
Made: Japan, 1997-00 (serial O094652, CIJ)
Finish: capri orange, 3-ply white guard
Neck: maple with rosewood board, dot inlays
Mods: thumb rest attached, note the repair to the jack-area as described above
Pickup: original Fender USA PB vintage split single coil
Case: very basic gig bag
Cosmetic condition notes: mild finish wear. There's an obvious mark where a nasty knock has been repaired beside the input jack; it's a pro-job so it's 100% stable and just shows the outline scar now. Aside from that, pretty clean: just a couple of small dents on the back and on the top horn on the front. Overall: good condition (7/10)
Playing condition notes: Action is low, neck is straight, intonation is good, truss rod works. All electrics tested and working properly. Frets are in good shape with just a bit of minor wear, 8/10 for life left. Set up with fresh 45/105s. Very good!
