Fender American Deluxe Telecaster Aged Cherry Sunburst 2008
Fender American Deluxe Tele, aged cherry burst, 2008. This is a classy T! The American Deluxe series ran for a long time and went through several minor changes; the 2008 model was noted for a thinner finish than previous years that allowed the wood to breathe nicely. The SCN pickups are a stacked noiseless single coil set; they're slightly on the hotter side of vintage voice and deliver a tasty sparkly take on the classic Tele-twang. The push button on the volume knob engages a faux-humbucker mode in middle position; it's got a nice midrange push and is a handy addition. The neck is smooth and a nice moderately chunky round profile; the gloss 9.5" modern radius board and worn satin back combine for a slick playing experience that delivers the goods for tasty lead playing. The maple board and ash body offer a huge amount of natural chime and midrange spank; it's a time-honoured combo that definitely brings out the best in a Tele. The mother-of-pearl dot inlays, aged pearl guard and bound cherry burst finish combine for a hardly-subtle look; but the classic lines and tasty binding mean there's a certain vintage charm that still shines through. If you're after a hard working Tele that will deliver the goods time and time again, here's your new mate.
