Fender American Standard Tele, black, 2008. The American Standard was a very long running model, held in high regard and relied upon by a huge number of players worldwide. In 2008, the model got a well received minor reboot with a thinner finish on body and neck and a redesigned bridge with some bent vintage Strat-style saddles. The neck is especially tasty; the rolled edges, tidy fretwork and rock solid pocket make it feel very sturdy and the the thin finish feels great in the hands; super easy to move around on. The alnico pickups are classic-T: sizzling treble, snappy attack, warm body and a rounded bass. This has that famous twang that just works; it'll fit perfectly into so many different settings and plays so nicely with amps and pedals. The tuxedo B&W look is understated and sleek; it'll happily slot into upmarket corporate gigs on a Friday and then belt out the sweaty tunes at a bar on Saturday... this really is a perfect working player's guitar. The case is super deluxe too!
