Fender AVRI '62 Jaguar, candy apple red, made in USA 1999. The American Vintage line offered vintage-correct takes on golden era Fender models, and enjoyed long critical and popular acclaim following their release in 1982. This one dates to 1999, so it's got a few miles on the clock but has weathered the decades gracefully. The neck feels great in the hands: it's a moderate vintage C shape, carved from superb tightly grained maple and rich dark rosewood. There's heaps tonal possibilities on deck via the 'dual circuit' electronics, from swampy thick rhythm tones to biting surfy snappy leads, it's all there. There's plenty of breath and sparkle on offer, so your notes still come through in crisp clarity even with a smattering of gain and ambience. The candy apple finish has a gorgeous depth to it, paired with the dark fretboard and mint guard it looks a treat. These aren't getting any easier to find as the years march on. Beautiful stuff.
