Fender Bullet S-2 Dakota Red 1983
Fender Bullet S-2, dakota red, made in USA 1983. The Bullet launched in 1981 as a replacement for the Musicmaster and Mustang models. Fender royalty John Page was responsible for the design, which features a hardtail bridge, in this case literally attached to the metal pickguard, a slim neck with a full 25.5" scale, a downsized body and a simple electronic setup. By 1983 when this one was born, they were up to the second version of the Bullet, and there were a bunch of pickup options on offer. This got two single coils, so it's the S-2 model. The neck is super slim and quick, with a soft V shape that sits nicely in the hand. The neck pickup delivers a glassy, hi-fi snap, with a sweet top end and a balanced punchy bass. The bridge pickup has a focused midrange with heaps of snarl and snap, it's eloquent in a slightly nasal, abrupt way. The red finish has a few knocks and scrapes but looks great for all it's years of play. This will be a whole lot of fun for one lucky player.
