Fender Classic 70s Telecaster Custom, made in Japan in 2017, incredibly rare factory surf green. Can you believe your eyes? What an absolute stunner of a guitar. This was a special edition finish offered very briefly and only via Fender's direct-to-public online store in Japan, so there's a small handful ever made. The Tele Custom is a 70s original, so you usually get the normal 70s finishes: natural, black, sunburst... proper bright 50s finishes that ooze awesomeness like this are impossibly rare on this model. Needless to say, it looks stupendous. The rest is all there: the slim oval neck is perfectly comfortable, the pickups are contrasting but complementary and dole out the signature twang with plenty of bravado, and hardware is all very reassuring. It's a breeze to play and a pleasure to hear. This is just about a brand-new guitar, there'd be plenty of guitars built well before this hanging in your local dealer. If you like it, don't wait; I don't expect another one will ever come our way. What a girl!
