Fender '57 Strat, crafted in Japan 1999-02, candy apple red. Here we have a classic Strat, wearing candy apple and an aged golden maple board with a bit of natural wear around the edges... awesome. This was the top end model in the catalog in it's day, so it's got an alder body and USA made Texas Special pickups. The mildly chunky maple neck and board adds a little snap and sizzle to the tone; there's a whole heap of juicy Strat-spank on deck with a charming cheeky growl when plugged into a hot amp. The neck is a great piece of maple and feels super intuitive in the hands; it's a little beefier than a regular '62 or American Standard without being a tree trunk. You can't really go wrong here: what was cooler than cool in 1957 is still a surefire winner today.

Model: Fender '57 Reissue Stratocaster (ST57-70TX)
Made: Japan, Dyna plant, 1999-02 (serial P004433)
Finish: candy apple red, 1-ply white guard
Body: alder
Neck: 1-piece maple w/ skunk stripe, 7.25" radius, 25.5" scale
Mods: none
Pickups: Fender USA Texas Special single coil x3
Case: very basic gig bag

Cosmetic condition notes: mild finish wear. Headstock has some minor marks on the end and bottom edge. The neck is clean and smooth in the hands, minor dimples only. The back has some checking lines, minor scuffs and dimples around the body as well as some dings on the top horn. The sides have a few things to note: dimples on the top horn, a little chip on the edge directly up from the bridge pickup, a couple of marks and a chip on the shoulder, dimples near the rear strap pin, some decent chips and marks near the jack and minor dimples on the bottom horn. The front is pretty clean, just some dimples and scuffs behind the bridge and on the shoulder and some marks on the top horn and guard. Overall: good condition (7/10).

Playing condition notes: Neck is straight, action is low, intonation is good, truss rod works. All electronics tested and working properly. Frets have some normal wear inc the start of some minor pitting, there's plenty of height in them and no major buzz issues; 6/10 for life left. Setup with fresh 10/46 Moonshiners strings.

This listing is an archived entry. We love to look back and remember fondly what characters we've had through the store, so we keep them around for reference.
