Fender Japan ‘62 Jazz Bass JB62-55 Vintage White 1989
Fender '62 Jazz, vintage white, made in Japan 1989-90. This is effortlessly cool, no doubt about it. The white finish is perfectly buttery: it has a few marks from three decades of play and pops perfectly against the choc rosewood board and the red tort guard. Aside from looking great, this delivers the goods across the board. It's got a great neck: arrow straight and stable, gorgeous concentric maple grain on the back, streaky dark rosewood slab board, slim classic 60s profile... it's very easy on the eyes and hands. The tone is very convincing too. It's got an assured, fat low end, with a growly midrange and a nice splash of spank on the top. It'll cut through a nice happily while filling out the low-end space with warmth and weight. These early Fugijen-made instruments are some of the best Fenders going around, so nab yourself a superb little gig machine while they're still affordable.
