Fender '62 Jazz Bass, old candy apple, crafted in Japan 2004-5. Old candy apple is like regular candy apple, but a little darker and saucier. This is classic in the way that 60s corvettes, vintage leather jackets and cherry cola is classic. It's got a smooth look and the tone and feel to match. The neck is slim and a nice round profile; it's instantly familiar and effortless in the hands. The USA pickups translate the even, balanced midrange of the alder body clearly; there's a really nice creamy growl to the tone that's equally happy cleaning up or cranking up. There's a lot of bass on offer here, and owing to a few dings from a previous life, it's going for a bargain. Very cool.
