Fender '62 Strat, rebel yellow, crafted in Japan 1997-00. What do you get if you cross Big Bird, a bunch of bananas, the core of the sun, and a Stratocaster? This, obviously. Rebel yellow is one of those weird finishes that pop up very occasionally and always stir up strong opinions: plenty of love, a bit of shade... all fun. Aside from it's delightful sunny demeanour, this brings the goods in all sorts of ways. The neck is perfect: slim, round and quick with a vintage radius and hint of flame maple running up and down it. The alder body and Texas Special pickups combine for a tasty tone that loves a bit of drive. There's a nudge of extra bass and sprinkling of extra bite on the top end; just enough to help cut through a mix and bring out the nasty side of an amp. If you like your Strats sunny side up and extremely fun to play, here's the big breakfast you can eat everyday forever.
