(SOLD) Fender Japan '62 Telecaster TL62-60 Black 1998
Fender '62 Tele, black, crafted in Japan 1997-00. It's simple, but it's classy. The 1962 Telecaster got the classic silver spaghetti logo, a rosewood slab fretboard, an alder body, spiral saddle bridge and some snappy single coil pickups, so this little charmer got all those things too. It's great to play: that slim C sixties style neck is so easy to get along with, the simple hardware functions admirably and there's plenty of natural resonance and volume on tap. It's got plenty of chime and sparkle plugged in, with a breathy brightness balanced by an airy midrange warmth and presence. This model only came in white in the catalog of 1997-8, so this has a little 'order' marking in the neck pocket: the black would have been a limited run for a certain shop back in the day. It looks rather fetching too: lightly worn around the edges, faded plastics and smoky chrome... pragmatic, but still beautiful in it's simplicity. It's hard not to like this one!
