Fender Precision, olympic white, crafted in Japan 1997-00. We've had a few of these 1970 style Japan-made P basses through the shop, and they never last long. Guess why? If you guessed it's because they're awesome, ten points to you. The seventies styling means you get a black guard and the bold black CBS-era logos, as well as a slightly slimmer neck with a 40mm nut. That's 2mm smaller than a standard vintage style P bass, but not as slim as a regular Jazz Bass. The neck feels super agreeable: slim enough to play for hours, beefy enough to add some tone and keep you from forgetting your place in the band, and carved from some gorgeous dark rosewood and tightly grained maple. The alder body and USA pickup combine for a lively, rounded tone with a great balance between top-end sweetness and low-end heft. Scoring a 90s example like this in such great shape is rare, as these basses often find favour with punk players who don't mind a scratch or two... but hey, you can ding it up yourself now, exactly how you like it.
