Fender '72 Tele, crafted in Japan 1999-02, sunburst. Oh boy, check out that flame! There's a little bit of mystery on this one: this model usually comes in blonde or black with a basswood body. This one is sporting the classic three tone sunburst, and the body appears to be a flamed piece of alder; it's a little hard to 100% confirm the species but that's the smartest estimate. It's a beautiful piece of timber; the burst finish lets the character shine through in a subtle but assertive fashion. It's likely that this was a customer order of some sort; a slight twist on the regular '72 Tele model. It adds up nicely in the hands: the slim round neck feels super sturdy, the body rings evenly and the whole experience is very reassuring. Tone-wise, the classic Tele-twang is there in spades, balanced by a breathy midrange and a round, warm bass. All-in-all, this is a saucy little Tele with a classic look that's very eager and able to please. Yes please.
