Fender Tele, blonde, crafted in Japan 1998. This sleek creature weighs in at 3.2kg, which is delightfully lightweight for a Tele. The neck is a slim, comfy round shape, and with the simple vintage hardware and electronics, this has an unassuming charm to it in the hands. The finish is called 'US Blonde': more white than a butterscotch, slightly transparent, not as stark as olympic white, and in an ironic twist given the name, exclusive to Japan. It looks awesome, and all the more so paired with the CBS-era blocky black logos and maple board. The tone is bright and open, with a well balanced spread and a sweetness on the top end. You can't go too wrong here, it works a treat.
