Fender '72 Tele, made in Japan 1985-7, butterscotch blonde. This is a lovely Tele! These 'E serial' guitars were made within a year or two of the famed and hyper-collectable JV serial examples that kicked off the Fender Japan project with a bang. As with these early Fujigen made Teles, the workmanship is absolutely spot on. The neck feels gorgeous; it's a superb piece of maple, arrow straight and tightly grained and carved to a friendly 70s style modern C. The body has some beautiful streaky grain peeping through the butterscotch finish; it's loud unplugged and naturally resonant and looks a treat. Plugged in, the bridge pickup delivers a mountain of twang and brightness, while the neck pickup has that classic plonky chime; the middle position is particularly satisfying. Teles this good looking never sit around for long, so don't dither if you have room at your place for it.
