(SOLD) Fender Japan Aerodyne Jazz Bass Medium Scale AJB-M Black 2011
Fender Aerodyne J, black, made in Japan 2010-11. This little cutie is a medium scale, so it has a 32" scale rather than the standard 34". That couple of inches difference makes for super comfy playing, especially with the slim lightweight body, easy access neck join and simple vintage hardware. It also means the tone is a little darker and rounder than a standard Jazz Bass, so the neck pickup is pretty close in tone to a Precision Bass, and the bridge pickup is more creamy than snarky. It sounds great: punchy, thick, immediate, warm. The finish has plenty of honest play wear, but that lends it a certain streetsmart chic, and that carved black top is always going to look cool. Needless to say these are trickier to score than the standard AJB model, so if you're tickled, don't wait for the next one.
