Fender Jag, candy apple red, crafted in Japan 1999-02. It looks good, no? The Jag launched in 1962 and has been right up there with the coolest guitars cash can buy ever since. The candy apple red hits the classic curves just right, paired with the abundance chrome and a dark streaky rosewood board, looks a treat. In an unusual twist, this one has a fat, D-shape neck, noticeably beefier than the regular slim C this model usually sports. It feels really good in the hands and adds a little bit of presence in the top end and some girth in the low mids too. The Jag-jangle is in full swing: chiming treble and a wide midrange with heaps of attack and a short sustain. There's a lot to love here, it's hard to argue: Jags are the coolest, right?
