(SOLD) Fender Japan Jazz Bass Special PJ-555 Black 1988
Fender Jazz Bass Special, black, made in Japan 1988. The 'Boxer Series' was Fender's Japanese made 'modern' instruments of the mid-eighties: Strats and Teles with Flyod Rose bridges, pointy shaped things, short scale Strats and... some really cool basses. The 'Jazz Bass Special' has a lightweight P-style body, paired with a slim J-style neck. It's blessed with a P/J style pickup setup, so you can dial a fair bit of tonal variation just by playing with the two volume controls. At 3.6kg this is extremely light, but somehow, the neck doesn't really dive... it's well balanced and super resonant in the hands. If you're playing long sets and after a no-nonsense companion that covers a lot of ground, this understated overachiever is a great candidate.
