Fender Mustang Bass, vintage white, crafted in Japan 1997-00. These are just so cool, and in the increasingly rare instances I manage to score one for the shop, they very seldom last long. The combo of the small and light offset body, short 30" scale, slim Jazz Bass style neck shape and simple hardware make this sublimely easy to play. Being a short scale, there's a naturally short sustain and thumpy attack that emphasises a thick and tuneful fundamental note with a plump roundness to the tone. It's a great tone for surf, punk or grungy stuff where simple, percussive bass lines rule the roost. The faded creamy finish is a surefire winner and will absolutely do it's best work on stage, just like you, right?
