(SOLD) Fender Japan Pawn Shop Mustang Special Vintage White 2012
Fender Pawn Shop Mustang Special, vintage white, made in Japan 2012. It has swagger, no? The Pawn Shop series was made in the early 2010s as a tribute to the heavily modified Fender offsets one might've found kicking around in the the 1990s. The Mustang Special takes the classic 60s lightweight offset body, but switches the bridge for a hardtail and the pickups for a pair of humbuckers. The original Wide Range style HBs are gone (kinda fitting, right?) and replaced with a set of hotter Gibson-style HBs, which can be switched to run as a humbucker or split to either single coil via the sliders switches. That means you can get thick juicy growly humbucker sounds, or use the inner coils together for Strat-middle-ish tones or the outside ones for Tele-middle type sounds. The white looks great too, it's got a few knocks and a bit of yellowing and it hits the curves very convincingly. Now, there's two things that I think make this guitar very fun indeed. One: the neck is a crazy piece of flame maple, it's very beautiful. Second, it weighs in at just under 2.7kg... dang. Weird, white and wonderful.

Cosmetic condition notes: minor finish wear. The headstock has some dimples and scuffs on the back and some extra holes on the front from since removed extra string trees. The neck is clean and smooth in the hands, minor dimples on the back only. The back has some dimples around the ferrules, in the elbow area and along the back edge, as well as some light scuffs in the bottom corner, near the neck joint and along the belly carve. The sides have dimples in the top horn and elbow area and some light scuffs on the bottom horn and near the jack. The front has dimples in the elbow area and some dents near the knobs, scuffs along the back edge, a chip on the bottom horn near the neck and some play wear on the guard and horns. Overall: good condition (7/10)
Playing condition notes: Action is low, intonation is good, neck is straight, truss rod works. All electrics tested and working properly. The frets have minor wear only, 8/10 for life left. Wearing fresh 11/49 Moonshiners strings.
