Fender Japan Stratocaster ST57/VSP Sunburst 2012
Fender '57 Strat, sunburst, made in Japan 2012. Fellow MIJ nerds get pretty excited about certain acronyms, so here's one for you folks: this here is a Vintage Special Project, or VSP. These models took the long-running, well regarded Fender Japan ST57 model and add a few luxurious touches to make it more vintage-correct, and a little bit better all around. The classic '57 stuff is all there: Kluson-style tuners, spaghetti logo, fat D-shape maple neck, matching maple 7.25" fretboard, single ply guard, stamped saddles and a two-tone burst finish... nice. The VSP also gets USA-made alncio single coil pickups, a steel block tremolo bridge for enhanced sustain and low end and a gloss nitro topcoat finish. Those little touches elevate the experience quite a lot: it's fat, round, full and punchy. The neck is a generous rounded shape, so if you like them a little chunky, you'll love this. This is a very similar guitar on paper to the American Vintage series version, and although it's closer to half the bucks, it's at least as good as many AVRIs we've had through. VSP= very special.

Cosmetic condition notes: minor finish wear. The headstock has minor dimples on the end. The neck is clean and smooth in the hands, very minor rub wear on the back only. The back has minor dimples on the both horns and bottom corner near the jack. The sides have minor dimples in the elbow area and near the jack. The front has minor scuffs around the jack and elbow area and some play wear on the guard and horns.
Overall: excellent condition (9/10)
Playing condition notes: Action is low, neck is straight, intonation is good, truss rod works. All electronics tested and working properly. Wearing fresh 10/46 Moonshiners strings.
Fret life: 9/10, minor wear only
