Fender Jazz Bass '62 Reissue, crafted in Japan 99-02, vintage white. These upmarket Fender Japan Js always deliver the goods. This one has the good stuff: alder body, spiral saddle bridge, Fender USA pickups. That's all good on paper, but the magic is in the feel and tone. The neck on this is superb, it's slim, quick and perfectly comfortable; it's ideal for those long gigs as you never feel like you're working hard. The pickups deliver buckets of brightness, definition and growl... all the good J-tone your ears need. The classic white/tort look never goes out of style; with some sweet natural yellowing this has turned to a delicious buttery cream colour. It's classy and subtle, until you start digging in... then it's a grizzly, gnarly tone machine.
