Fender Mustang, made in USA 1978, olympic white. This has plenty of swagger! These 70s era Mustangs are different beasts to the earlier 60s examples or the later MIJ reissues; they're a lot of fun. First up, it's an ash body. That puts the weight back into standard Tele/Strat territory at 3.7kg, but it comes with it's benefits: there's heaps of growl and snap through the midrange and a super punchy, defined attack. The neck has been refinished in smooth satin oil, so it's feeling super slick in the hands... between the skinny smooth neck and the smaller body size, this is a super easy player that's hard to put down. When I was testing this one out, it was hard not to reach for the fuzz pedal: it really does it's best work with a generous helping of gain pumping out punk or grungy stuff. The well-played white finish is super tasty too, this really has the look of a proper player's vintage guitar with all the little bruises and rub wear to show for belting out a few thousand tunes. Can't argue: this is cool.

Model: Fender Mustang
Made: USA, 1978, Fullerton plant, (serial S819232)
Finish: olympic white, 3-ply black guard
Body: ash
Neck: maple, one piece w/skunk stripe, 7.25" radius, 25.5" scale, C-shape
Weight: 3.750kg
Mods: neck sanded and refinished in oil
Pickups: Fender grey bottom alnico single coil x2
Case: original hard case, very good condition

Cosmetic condition notes: headstock has some marks on the end and bottom edge. The neck is clean and smooth in the hands, minor dimples only and some rub wear only; note that it's been refinished. The back has a number of dimples and scuffs around the body, plus a scratch near the back edge; nothing nasty. The sides have dimples and scuffs around the whole body, no major marks. The front has a decent bald patch in the elbow area as well as widespread dimples and scuffs and some discolouration around the neck pocket; again nothing too untoward. Overall: good condition (7/10).

Playing condition notes: Action is low, neck is straight, intonation is good, truss rod works. All electrics tested and working properly. Frets appear to be original, there's some wear on them but they're pretty even with no major buzz issues, 6/10 for fret life left. Wearing fresh 11/49 Moonshiners strings.
