Fender Offset Series Duo-Sonic Torino Red 2017
Fender Offset Duo-Sonic, torino red, made in Mexico 2017. It's cute, right? The Duo-Sonic launched in the mid fifties as a 'student' model short scale instrument. They enjoyed wide acclaim a few decades later amongst grunge and alternative/indie players; there's a certain simple charm about them that's very appealing. The Duo-Sonic differ from a Mustang in that it has a fixed bridge; a handy little quirk as those Mustang tremolos can take a bit of managing. These 'Offset Series' models have a 'modern' neck shape: 42mm nut like a Strat and a 9.5" radius, paired with the trademark 24" scale. It's an easy player and the lightweight slimline body is very comfy. Tone-wise, the neck pickup delivers a plonky, warm dark tone that's full of offset-charm, while the modded rails HB in the bridge adds a whole new dimension of crunchy driven tones with a heap of midrange. The classic 60s style torino red and mint green combo is loveable too; as I said: it's cute, right?
