Fenech The Roadster Pro Black Burst 2021
Fenech Roadster Pro, black burst, made in Australia 2021. Aaron Fenech took to guitar building full time in 2016, having come from a diverse background that included professional car painting, carpentry and material science and engineering. The company is now a small, dedicated team based out of Gold Coast, primarily building gorgeous all-solid acoustic guitars from a range of top notch timber. They've offered a couple of electric models for a while now, including this model: a set-neck offset with a pair of humbuckers and hardtail bridge. It's very pretty: sleek lines, gorgeous black burst finish, lovely detail in the grain on show, cool little inlays and a bound board... very crisp indeed. The build quality is very impressive, with all the little details executed with care and skill and a very convincing feel in the hands. The neck is a comfy slim C shape, with easy access all the way up to the top owing to the clever neck join. The pickups are by USA boutique show Lambertones, and they're classy too. The neck pickup is called The Crema, with an alnico IV magnet and a low wind with around 3.55k resistance, and it's super clear, open and articulate with a pleasing richness and complexity. The bridge pickup is called The Grinder (not the same as the app), and has some more horsepower with an alnico VIII magnet and 6.6k ohms, although it's still a very breathy, balanced sound with abundant clarity. It's fair to say these come up very seldom on the used market, so if you're tickled by this fine creature, you've got one shot at it.
