Fernandes FSB-40 Bass Burgundy Mist Metallic 2001
Fernandes FSB-40 bass, burgundy mist, made in Taiwan 2001. When I saw this come up, I had to buy it, I couldn't help myself. It's approximately Stingray-flavoured, but with a slightly quirkier body and guard shape and a simple passive electronic setup. It's got a great neck, slim and stable, somewhere between a Jazz and Precision in profile and nice and smooth in the hands. The alder body lends the tone a little more balance and smoothness than a Stingray, but there's still heaps of punch and growl on tap. The finish is a show-stopper, it really does look superb. The catalog lists black, white and red as the only options, so this metallic lavender hue is a rare treat. Very cool!
