Fernandes JG-45, bright yellow, made in Taiwan 1999. Fernandes are a giant of the Japanese guitar industry, offering excellent instruments since the 1970s and still delivering the goods and enjoying a great reputation to this day. These JG series models popped up briefly in the late 90s, and they're a lot of fun. You get the classic offset shape, a sensible, smooth and sturdy two point Strat-style trem, a 25.5" scale neck with a shreddable 13.75" radius and easy-access neck joint and a pair of humbuckers with a split switch. It's a winning combo: it plays really agreeably and sounds great. The neck is slim and quick and the hardware is much less finnicky than a vintage style Jag, so it's reassuring in the hands. The tone is snappy and full, with plenty of punch in the attack and plenty of beef through the lows and mids. The bright yellow is a laugh: you can't miss it, I reckon it's awesome. JG=jolly good.
