Fender JG66 Jaguar, sunburst, made in Japan around 2000. Needless to say, this has been modified... what a fun thing. The original owner of this was apparently a pro player with a Fender endorsement, which tied in somehow to his felt need to remove the serial number following the mods to replace the pickups and some hardware. The body was routed for humbuckers and then blessed with a pair of Gibson '57 Classics, their PAF-style low-mid output option with plenty of warmth and detail. The switching is still standard-Jag style, but we had our tech re-wire it with new wire on arrival as there was a few niggles to iron out. It's a dark and gooey take on the Jag jangle now. On the rhythm circuit, it's thick and swampy with a short sustain and heaps of wallop. The lead circuit opens up a measured dose of bite and growl, edging closer to vintage Jag tones while keeping a foot in the meaty camp. After a full setup this is playing smoothly and agreeably, so it's ready for action. A bit different, a bit awesome.
