(SOLD) Gibson Les Paul Junior Vintage Sunburst 2011
Gibson Les Paul Junior, 2011, vintage sunburst. Sometimes, more is more, but mostly... less is the best. The LP Jr is a simple recipe: slab of mahogany, wraparound bridge, single dog-ear P-90 pickup, basic V/T controls... no nonsense, just the good stuff. There's something about the simplicity that translates to a superbly visceral, evocative tone. This has a lovely warm, singing midrange, a snappy bright treble and a self-assured, weighty bass response. It's perfect for big rhythm parts, there's a lovely sticky warm quality to the mids that just works. The neck is an intuitive moderate '59 style shape, it has that 'neither too thick nor too thin' shape that keeps you having fun without thinking too hard about it. The finish on this is superb in the flesh: it has a real depth and intrigue about it, it looks amazing. We all kinda want one, so go on, you may as well, right?
