Gibson Les Paul Special DC, TV Yellow, made in USA 2003. What an exceptionally cool item this is. The LP Special shares some DNA with the LP Junior: flat top, straight neck angle, slim and lightweight mahogany body and P-90 single coils. But, unlike a Junior, you get a neck pickup plus the Standard style V/V/T/T electronics, as well as handy a tune-o-matic bridge with a stoptail piece for easy intonation. This one also got the super cool double cut body, a shape I've been a longtime fan of. All that adds up beautifully in the hands. It feels compact and agreeable to play, movement up and down the neck is super easy and quick and the body rings loud and proud with even the lightest touch. The pickups are great too: heaps of clarity and sheen on the top end, but with a growling, super percussive midrange and a self-assured, grunty low end. It cleans up beautifully, displaying an eloquent voice crisp for lead parts, but it's best work is undoubtedly done paired with a dirty tube amp and turned up loud. It's easy to tell that this guitar has enjoyed plenty of play already, as there's some tasty wear around the edges of the finish, adding a certain swagger to the already punk aesthetic. This one has the original fancy case with the gaudy hot pink lining... ah Gibson, thanks, but why? This is a glorious creature indeed.

Cosmetic condition notes: minor finish wear. Headstock has a missing truss cover, some extra holes from previous tuners and a few dimples on the end. The neck has some glossing and dimples from play but no major marks. The neck has had a break repaired at some point, you can see where the finish is slightly different but it's an exceptionally clean and tidy job, if I didn't mention it you would likely miss it. The back has widespread light scuffs and dimples, no major marks though. the sides have light rub wear around the edges of the whole body, as well as a few dimples in the elbow area and near the jack. The front is behind the bridge and on the top edge as well as some standard play wear on the guard and top horn. Overall: very good condition (8/10)
Playing condition notes: Neck is straight, action is low, intonation is good, truss rod works. All electrics tested and working properly. Frets have some normal wear, there's no major buzz issues and they're fairly even, they don't need immediate attention, but there is the start of some pitting; 6/10 for fret life left. Setup with fresh 10/52 Moonshiners strings.
