Gibson LP Standard, limited edition sapphire blue top finish, made in USA 2000. This finish is really quite stunning! It's not a lacquer over maple, it's more like a gold-top style solid metallic finish in a deep blue, with a chocolate stain over the back and neck. It's certainly unusual, but it absolutely pops. There's a cute little 'Limited Edition' decal on the back of the headstock to remind you that it's different the other LP Standards around the place. The very early 2000s was a good period for Gibson, and this really has *that thing* about it when you pick it up; it has plenty of mojo. The neck is a standard slim 60s profile, and the ebony board is a really classy touch you don't always get with an LP Standard. The 490 pickups are sweet: thick and rich with a full midrange and a nice nudge of chime of the top. This is how a Les Paul is meant to sound and feel, it's a rare and beautiful thing! It'll be a long while til the next one pops up, if it ever does, so don't wait too long.

Model: Gibson Les Paul Standard
Made: 2000, USA (serial 03090387)
Finish: sapphire blue, limited edition for 2000 only
Body: maple top, mahogany body
Neck: mahogany with ebony board, pearl trapezoid inlays
Mods: knobs possibly replaced, full rewire back to standard after some unusual changes, strap pins replaced, guard removed (Grover tuners were standard on this model)
Pickup: 490R/490T set
Case: original Gibson hard case, missing a couple of clips but otherwise good shape

Cosmetic condition notes: moderate finish wear. The top has a couple of dents near the binding, as well as a bunch of minor dents mostly concentrated behind the bridge. The back has some extensive 'buckle rash' as pictured, but it's nothing more than skin deep. Pretty reasonable 'players condition; really. Overall: good condition (7/10).

Playing condition notes: Action is low, neck is straight, intonation is good, truss rod works. All electrics tested and working properly, just rewired back to standard by our local ninja luthier. Frets have some normal wear but there's heaps of height left, 8/10. No headstock breaks! Setup with fresh 11/49s and playing with majesty.

This listing is an archived entry. We love to look back and remember fondly what characters we've had through the store, so we keep them around for reference.
