(ARCHIVE) Gibson SG Bass Faded Cherry 2010
- Description
- Guitarchives
Gibson SG Bass, faded cherry, made in USA 2010. These are a cool little model. The original EB-3 bass launched in 1961 and found favour with a heap of big players, most notably Jack Bruce from Cream. It's got a really cool tone: big thick fundamental with rounded, punchy attack and a warm juicy growl. The neck pickup is all lows and low mids, while the bridge pickup adds a heap of bark and grind to the mix. The short 30.5" scale will feel familiar to fans of Mustang basses and the like, it's a comfy player with a handy moderate round neck. It's nice and light in weight and it's surprisingly well balanced without any nasty neck dive. The thin satin nitro cherry finish has done what it aimed to do and glossed up with contact around the edges, it's looking really tasty. If you're after a cool little bass for your psych rock or stoner doom outfit, this is surely a fun candidate.
