Gibson SG Special, walnut finish, made in USA 1999. The Special is the trimmed down take on the classic SG, so it's got a gold screened logo, late 60s style batwing guard, dots inlays and no binding... it's a simple aesthetic, but the classic curves of the body pop nicely. At under 3kg, this is a lightweight example, but it's still nicely balanced and doesn't suffer from neck dive. The walnut finish is a nice halfway between the ubiquitous cherry and black finishes, it's a great look. The neck is a typical 60s mildly chunky shape with a generous taper up the neck, it's comfy and fun to move around on and has weathered the decades gracefully. The tone: there's yep, heaps of punch and growl on deck. It's perfect for punk rock chuggs and big riffs. Good times shall abound!

The back has widespread light scuffs and surface scratches as well as some checking lines, no major marks though. The sides have minor scuffs around the whole body as well as some light dimples and dents on both horns and the elbow area. The front has widespread dimples and checking lines around the whole body, as well as a some scuffs on the top horn and on the guard up from the neck pickup and some play wear on the guard and horns. Overall: good condition (7/10).

Playing condition notes: Neck is straight, action is low, intonation is good. The frets have some normal wear, they're pretty even in height with no major buzz issues but there is the start of some pitting, 6/10 for fret life left. All electronics tested and working properly. No headstock breaks. Wearing fresh 10/52 Moonshiners strings.
