Gibson SG Standard, black, made in USA 2003. I reckon black might well be the best of the standard finishes for an SG, it hits those mean curves in a  subtle, classy way and strikes a balance between suave and mean perfectly. This plays really agreeably: the neck is fairly slim and feels nice and friendly, the body is lightweight and resonant and it has that certain integrity a well-made guitar has in the hands. The tone is convincing too. The neck is dark and gooey, but with enough clarity to lend notes and chords an understated musicality. The bridge is snappy and brash, but warm and smooth enough to come out sounding wide and complex. There's a lot to enjoy here, it's a sleek beast indeed.
