Greco EG450 Gold Top 1978
Greco EG450, gold top, made in Japan 1978. This one must've originally been wearing a coat of cherry sunburst, going on the vibrant red hue of the back and sides. The gold is a re-finish, but it's nicely done and looks great. The gold/red combo is a cool one: usually they'd have a dark or natural back, so this has a little bit of a circus-glam vibe about it. Our house tech has done a clean up and fret level and dress, so this is playing nice and smoothly. It's a slim neck without being tiny, and the natural resonance is apparent in the hands; it feels great. The tone is hairy: plump and fat, thick juicy mids, snappy attack when you dig in. This is a very enjoyable vintage LP, it's got plenty of personality. Nice!
