Greco EG700T Tobacco Sunburst 1975
Greco EG700, tobacco sunburst, made in Japan 1975. This is very pretty indeed. Greco started making Gibson-style models in the early 70s, and by 1975 or so, they were getting very good at it. This one references the LP Standard, so you get a sturdy pancake style body capped with solid maple, paired with a set maple neck with a lovely dark streaky rosewood board. The woodwork is very good, so this has plenty of natural sustain and unplugged volume. The neck is quite skinny: a slim little C shape, which will really suit some players and styles, but steer clear if you're after a 50s style baseball bat. The pickups are awesome: this is bright, wide and open, with a gorgeous shimmering top end and a breathy, harmonically complex midrange. It cleans up beautifully, always a good sign on an LP, and delivers an eloquent creamy smoothness into a dirty amp. The finish is somewhere between a tobacco and honey burst, with a gorgeous caramel hue around the outside fading to an understated amber gold in the middle... there's some nice grain on show too. If you're after an excellent vintage LP that's easy to play and looks the business, this will surely hit the mark.

Cosmetic condition notes: minor finish wear. The headstock has a chip and some scuffs on the end, scuffs on the edges and front around the posts and a dent on the edge near the B string post. The neck is clean and smooth in the hands, minor dimples on the back only. The back has a dent and some surface scratches in the middle, scuffs on both horns, dimples in the elbow area, bottom corner and along the back edge and a patch of peeling and cracks in the lacquer near the near strap pin. The sides have scuffs on the top horn, dimples in the elbow area, scuffs and small dents near the jack and some dimple on the bottom horn. The front has dimples around the knobs, back edge and elbow area, scuffs around the bridge and near the switch and some play wear on the guard and horns.
Overall: very good condition (7.5/10)
Playing condition notes: action is low, neck is straight, intonation is good, truss rod works. All electronics tested and working properly. Wearing fresh 10/52 strings.
Fret Life: 6/10, normal wear but playing evenly with no major buzz issues
