Greco F-200 Dreadnought Acoustic 1973

Greco F-200 acoustic, made in Japan 1973 approx. This is surely a lovely creature. Greco are mostly known for their electric guitar models, but their lesser known and less common vintage acoustics are absolutely worthy of mention. This one takes it's cues from the Gibson Hummingbird, although there's a few key differences. Firstly, there's the Martin-esque square headstock and the solid rosewood back and sides, also akin to the famed Martin D-28. It's got a lovely slim neck that's an absolute breeze in the hands; the action is also nice and low and perfectly playable all the way up the neck. Unlike many acoustics of this vintage, it's never had a headstock repair and the top is still nice and flat; it's weathered the decades almost untouched. The tone is magic: big, thick bass dripping with warmth, a rounded and even attack and a clarity and sparkle that lends a perfect splice of definition and chime. This really is a brilliant sounding and playing guitar, perfect for open rhythm parts and a very worthy gig machine if you add a pickup. Very nice indeed!

Model: Greco F-200
Made: 1973 approx, Japan (no serial, dated by logo and catalog)
Finish: natural, gloss poly
Body: traditional square shoulder dreadnought shape, solid spruce top, solid rosewood back and sides (can't 100% all solid but that appears to be the case)
Neck: mahogany, rosewood fingerboard, dovetail joint,
Mods: truss rod cover removed
Case: non-original padded gig bag

Cosmetic condition notes: minor finish wear. Headstock is pretty clean. Neck is clean and smooth in the hands, just some minor dimples only. The back has some light scuffs and very light scratches spread around but is free from major marks. The sides are also pretty clear; just some scratches on the shoulder and near the rear strap pin. The front is also pretty clear; just a handful of miniature dimples behind the bridge and on the shoulder and some light play wear on the guard and top horn. Overall: very good condition (8/10).

Playing condition notes: action is low, neck is straight, intonation is good, truss rod works. All electronics tested and working properly. Frets look nice and even and in pretty good shape, 8/10 for fret life left. Wearing fresh 12/53 strings.
