Greco FA-80 archtop, made in Japan 1990, sunburst finish. It looks good, no? By 1990, Greco were a couple of decades deep on doing Gibson-inspired guitars to a very good standard. This one is a take on the ES-175, the classic full-body archtop. It's beautifully executed, with some really tidy workmanship, excellent fret and finish work and plenty of crisp visual details. The neck is comfy and slim in the hands, with a gorgeous dark streaky rosewood board and those cool split parallelogram inlays. The tone on deck is dark, warm and thick, balanced by a defined zesty top end and a wide, full midrange. The choc brown to golden yellow burst finish is classy as heck, letting some subtle birdseye grain show through and generally delivering the visual goods. We get a fair few Greco LP-style guitars through, and even a decent number of 335-style models, but the fully hollow 175ish offerings like this are pretty hard to get. You won't be disappointed.
