Greco PB580 Mercury Bass, made in Japan 1977, sunburst. This is a cool vintage P with a lot of character. In Japan in the late seventies, basses like this were made completely by hand without the help of CNBC machines and the like, and the quality of build is very impressive indeed. The finish features an almost solid yellow in the middle of the burst, which lends it a cool 'clownburst' aesthetic that pairs nicely with the tort guard and aged maple board. The neck is a late sixties style moderate, round profile with a cap board and no skunk stripe, and it's arrow straight and satisfying all the way up to the top frets. The original pickup died, so our tech installed a great little vintage passive split single he had on hand, and it's sounding superb. It's grinding and growly through the mids when you dime the knobs and dig in, but with the tone rolled back and a light touch it doles out a warm and gooey motown tone that's a lot of fun too. This is awesome, it'll serve someone very well indeed.

The back has widespread very light scuffs and dimples around the whole body but no major marks. The sides have a handful of light scuffs around the whole body, most notably near the jack. The front has a couple of dimples near the knobs and on the top horn as well as widespread light scuffs around the body, no major marks. Overall: very good condition (8/10)
