(SOLD) Greco SA550 Hollow Body Walnut 1975
Greco SA550, walnut finish, made in Japan 1975. Good golly, what a beautiful item. Greco were starting to hit their stride in the mid 70s, and although this is old enough to be a little quirky, it's a lovely guitar. The walnut finish shows off plenty off gorgeous grain patterns, and paired with a sweet dark rosewood board and the aged cream binding, it looks spectacular. Being fully hollow, there's heaps of natural resonance, and it's super lightweight. The Greco-stamped Maxon U-1000 pickups do a great job of translating all that acoustic goodness plugged in: it's gooey, rich and warm, but with plenty of definition and clarity and a mile-wide midrange illuminating all the detail in your big chords. The neck is pretty slim but feels comfy and the hardware is all in good order despite the miles on the clock. All in all: what a delight.
