Greco TE500 Thinline Tele style, natural finish, 1976. These old Greco Thinline models are such lovely guitars, they're enjoying increasing recognition for their many delights. First up: it's a breeze to play. The slim, straight and comfy neck paired with the lightweight body makes for an easy breezy playing feel, it's lively and zingy int eh hands and seems to basically play itself. The natural finish has a few marks around the place and has yellowed nicely, it really lets the grain if the ash do the talking. We had our tech attach a new pickup to the odd sized baseplate of this one, as the original pickup couldn't be revived. A previous owner removed the covers on the pickups too, so this one is a bit more punk than some others kicking around. It sounds lush: heaps of attack and snap when you dig in, lovely gooey warmth and balance through the mids, enough heft to fill out a mix nicely. If this had all the original parts and was in shiny shape, you'd be up for around half as much cash again, so nab yourself a little 'players' grade' bargain and welcome this excellent creature into your fold on the cheap.
