Greco TE500, natural finish, made in Japan 1980. The Thinline Tele is probably the coolest model Fender came up with for the whole decade of the seventies, and it didn't take too long for the Japenese-based makers to catch on. This smooth sailor dates to 1980, and has weathered the decades gracefully with a few knocks and scrapes. It's a lovely thing in the hands: responsive, lightweight, comfy and sturdy. The neck is a comfy slim rounded shape and the chambered body adds a certain bit of life to things, plugged-in or otherwise. The tone on offer is gorgeous: thick and full through the lows, but with that lovely breathy delicacy in the top end and an expansive, eloquent midrange. It's a perfect guitar for clean or lightly crunchy rhythm parts especially, it just sings. These are getting harder to score these days and are a pretty safe bet in terms of value and reliability for a vintage offering, so hang it on your wall and enjoy it's fine company, will you?
