Greco TB-70 Thunderbird style bass, made in Japan 1989, white. This is laden with swagger. Greco's late 80s LP and SG models are among the most famous Gibson style models out of Japan, but these far less common T-Bird style basses are surely worthy of some admiration in their own right. This is really well made: the neck is slim, straight and stable and well balanced against the body, there's heaps of natural resonance and the fret and finish work is all really tidy. This one had some dead pickups on arrival, so our tech installed a new set of basic soapbar single coils... it was tricky to find a pair that fits but hey, they're in there looking tidy and sounding excellent. The tone is mean: heaps of growl, rounded fat lows and a midrange with plenty of presence and girth. The white finish has plenty of marks and bumps and fading, which lends this a little extra streetsmart style. Very cool indeed.
